The Baroness

I was thumbing through an old book on my shelf and stumbled upon this photograph of a strikingly lovely woman. Something about her easy, elegant style caught my attention. The scene of the photograph is very pared down and simple but I think a lot can be understood in the minutia of the details. She looks so modern. She looks so happy and relaxed. The relaxed look of privilege, I think.

Even her dog seems happy and relaxed. Tail wagging.

Upon closer inspection, you can see that her tunic and her amazing matching gray boots are all suede. The touch of dark gray silk scarf at her neck completes the outfit.

I’m in love with the look. A modern classic. Great inspiration for fall. The color story and the leggings with over the knee boots… it couldn’t be more.. well, now.

I look at the subtitle next to the picture. Pauline de Rothschild at age 53 in 1963.

I don’t watch TV. Much, anyway. Alright, a few: Mad Men, Rachel Zoe Project, Lost, Project Runway, Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style, What Not to Wear (see the pattern?), and of course, The Office. It might take me a year (and a half) to complete a season. I am very proficient at utilizing my DVR.

If I watch very little TV, how am I to see the commercials? I was so enamored with this one. Yes, it was released in April, but I’m catching it now. In September. And, it speaks to me. So, it worked. It’s very rare that I actually rewind the commercials…

Disclaimer: I do like TV; I just don’t give myself the time for it.

If you ever find yourself in the Northern Pacific Region of Costa Rica, you should find yourself here. Playa Avellanas is a quaint spot to spend the day. Locals refer to it as “little Hawaii” because of the enormous waves. However, if you are feeling lazy, lounging at Lola’s is a nice way to pass the day. Lola’s is a stylish open-air restaurant and bar with a beautiful front-row view of the surf. The driftwood tables and reclining wood chairs make for comfy seating to enjoy the fabulous and incredibly fresh food. After lunch? More lounging, of course…

I’m so on the go right now, the only posts I can make are snap shots here and there. But, I thought this was pretty enough to share. Tamarindo, Costa Rica has the loveliest sunsets; they are different every evening. I get to enjoy these for another week.

I am still able to get my blog fix, while still remaining on a break. Last night, I got to visit with my upstairs neighbors, Olga and Slavik. They have a super cool blog. Please check it out!

I am now going to pack up the resting toddler, head back to the beach to meet up with the others, and wait for another evening viewing…

I am in love with this picture. As my husband and I were making our way up Highway 1 last week, we stopped here for lunch and I snapped this shot. I loved the colors, the oyster freezer, the weathered wood, everything. As I was taking the pic, this cute little girl breezed through the shot. Look at her little silver Mary Janes!

We had the loveliest lunch (loveliest day). This was the view I was lucky to have from my table. Everything about this place was cute.

I cannot wait to take this drive again. It won’t be soon enough…
