Houstonians love their RODEO. One of the outfits featured on Great Day Houston (the one Houston stylist, Todd Ramos, called his favorite in the video, below) is from Cakewalk Style Shop. She’s wearing a Haute Hippie tank and sequin mini. And, of course Lane Boots, to boot.

Texas Size Party

As of late, I’ve been moonlighting. My second job has consisted of throwing a huge gala to benefit an amazing charity. NAM. Northwest Assistance Ministries. Of course, I looked to my friend, Laura Sanz, for the decor. She owns {éclat} event design and she does beautiful work. The theme was ‘Under The Texas Stars’ and we wanted to create the impression of an outdoor lawn party. We started with very simple things such as outdoor chairs and framing the dance floor with rectangular tables vs. rounds. We ended with fresh flowers and the most massive chandelier you’ve ever seen. In the middle somewhere was burlap. Lots of it. Bolts and bolts of burlap filled my house for weeks. Making 46 table covers out of burlap didn’t seem like such a big deal before I began that project. I have since changed my mind. There was plenty of Western Swing, as infused by Two Tons of Steel. Jeans & Jewels, cowboy hats (& sequins) & laughter embellished the ballroom. It was a Texas size party, indeed!
Laura recreated the vision to a T. I have used her services for several events now, and I am always left beyond impressed. And, we broke the record for the money raised. I’m thrilled. Now, it’s time to focus on my other job.
